About Ron Walters
I've grown up in West Virginia and I want nothing more than to see my home state prosper. Our state is like no other, and we all share a wonderful heritage here. I'm proud to be a Congressional candidate for the 2nd district, and I hope you will join me in securing the future of our home and her people.
Growing up in West Virginia I learned very fast what it means to be a part of something special, to be proud of where I've come from, and to do the best work I could possibly do. I've been surround by people who won't stand for 'good enough', people who tell you when you're wrong not because they want to see you fail, but because they want to see you succeed. Honesty and integrity are a part of every West Virginian's soul. As a child, when I was in school I learned about all the things you expect a child to learn: history, geography, English, math- but I also learned a person is as good as their word. I learned that West Virginia is almost heaven and I learned that God is everyone's boss.
As I got older, I learned how true these things were. I was thankful for all the time my parents spent making sure that I knew what it meant to be a West Virginian, and I'll tell you- the people of this great state never let me forget. I'm reminded daily of what it is to be a good person, because daily I see people doing so much good in our communities. Whether it's someone helping a complete stranger pick up their dropped groceries, or our communities picking up those who have fallen on hard times. West Virginians are always there to help each other, and now I want to help West Virginia.
I believe we can fix the problems that have been forced upon us by Washington. We must demand consequences for actions and insist on accountability and transparency. We can tell those who promised to represent us to actually represent us. I will fight for my state, I will not accept 'good enough', and I will make an impact in Washington where so many others seem to have forgotten who they serve: the people.
West Virginians are hard workers, we always have been. We want jobs and we want legislation that will bring businesses to our state, not drive them away. Our very own people, small business owners, face tough times because Washington wants to have a hand in every cookie jar; they want to regulate and tax every person and every business until there is nothing left to take. Our communities need less government, our communities deserve to benefit from a free market and the freedom to actually do their jobs.
I believe in Wild and Wonderful, I believe in our people, and I believe in our God given rights. West Virginia will not wait around for government to fix our problems, we will not listen to Obama and just 'hope' things 'change'. We will do what West Virginians before us did when they settled these mountains, and we will make our own way.
I hope you will believe in me as much as I believe in West Virginia.
